Marrickville Community Fund (MCF) is all about our community.
We are a philanthropic fund working in the Marrickville local government area, providing services to the community and its donors, making grants and undertaking community leadership and partnership activities to address a variety.
MCF is led by Marrickville citizens for the benefit of the Marrickville community. Known as place-based philanthropy, the fund functions like a permanent community savings account, where the community - through the Marrickville Fund Advisory Council (MCFAC) - decides how the funds are distributed.
MCF offers the people of Marrickville an opportunity to build an endowment fund, give back to the community - forever - the gift that keeps on giving and a positive everlasting legacy from this generation to future generations.
In building this permanent trust for Marrickville, its citizens, local organisations and business can make tax-deductible donations of any size that are pooled then invested in perpetuity. Interest generated from the investments is then given out through grants to projects that benefit Marrickville community, address social, cultural or environmental needs and encourage community participation and growth.

Community Foundations are recognised as vehicles that bring together a diverse range of stakeholders in metropolitan an rural communities to provide them with resources and tools to initiate key social, environmental and cultural activities. Community Foundations share the same characteristics worldwide:

•Governance provided by a board of citizens, broadly reflective of their communities
•Grant making to other non-profit and community groups to address disadvantage and a wide variety of emerging and changing needs
•Building a permanent resource for the community through the creation of endowed funds from a wide range of donors
•Providing services to donors to help them achieve their philanthropic goals.
